Announcing the 2012 Cub League/Harvest Basketball Academy!

It’s that time of year again to start our Harvest Cubs Basketball league.  We will be training our young athletes in the proper fundamentals and skills of the game of basketball, as well as having them play a few games, and a season ending tournament.  We want the focus of our program to be more skills and fundamentals driven, as kids at this age generally do not know the basic skills, and without these basic skills, they will not know how to play the game, let alone have success at it.  We will also be teaching our players the same drills that our middle school and high school teams perform, so that we can start preparing them for the system we run at our higher levels.  We want our drills, offenses, and defenses to be second nature to our young athletes, to allow our athletes and program to have the highest probability of success in the future, and glorify the Lord to our utmost capability.

Dates:  February 4, 11, 18 and 25 will be the dates of our fundamentals and skills training. March 3, 10 and 17 will be the dates for the games and season ending tournament.   Also, we will pick teams in the end of February, and all teams will have a weekly practice slot in the Mitchell Swaback Gymnasium, times and dates TBD.

Ages:  This year the Cubs program will be for first grade-forth grade boys and girls.  We will also be dividing them into first and second, and third and forth grade teams.  Depending on our enrollment,we will try and have separate divisions for the boys and girls.  If we do not have enough players to accommodate this, we will combine boys and girls as we have in the past.

Times:  We will hold our clinics and games between 12-4 PM on all of the aforementioned dates. First and second grade will have the 12-1:30 PM time slot and third and forth grade with have the 2pm-3:30 time slot for fundamentals and skills training. The dates of the weeknight practices for all of the teams is TBD.

Cost:  $79.00 per athlete, includes a reversible basketball jersey.  Please state size on the registration. (Generally choose one size larger than child’s current size)

****Our own Harvest Christian Academy High School Varsity Basketball Players and Coaching staffs will be assisting in the training and coaching of these young athletes throughout the entire Cubs program as well.
